i'm in.

K1 is not open yet. They just finished laying asfault. But we did a photoshoot there last week with the new project miata. :) it is going to be a super cool place. They plan on having doors open in about 2 weeks I believe.

Dromo's service sucks, so I don't go there. But if the group did, I'd show up.

We should start a friendly little pool of a couple bucks a person. fastest lap of the day takes the pot.

There is Pole Position in Corona. It's partaily owned by Jeremy McGrath I think. I'm down to go to any of those places. Great idea about the little cash pot Matt. I think that's how I'll fund my Miata... lol

And being a professional race car driver, you would take yourself out of the running...

bwahahaha. pro may be a bit of a stretch. But I'm not a small guy. Surely there are some of you here with a more "jdm" style body. My added girth makes it a challenge to keep up with the sub 150lb guys.

fyi - the k1speed in Irvine is partially owned, and the tracks were designed by Boris said. There are tons of his racing suits hanging on the walls. Kinda cool...

I'm gunna lobby for k1 in Irvine. More central. And I'm in SD most every day during the week. I don't need to make a weekend trip too.

(except on sunday mornings a group of pro's gets together at K1 in Carlsbad...But I'm not sure I need my ego bruised quite like that...

K1 irvine is fine for me also, I didn't realize it was open yet.

I haven't been to K1 for quite some time so my Pro-Score sucks right now. Lets go on a Monday because its Buy two get one FREE.

Edit: Just went to the website and was surprised to see that they keep a very detailed record of my last visit, almost a year ago! Damnit, I'm always second place #-o

I won't win any money overall, but I'm pretty sure I'd do well in the "Fat Ass (over 240lbs) Class".

Or just use scuba weights like myself and every other karter in the world does. I used two 4 lbs. neoprene anckle weights to meet the minimum driver weight in my last season of karting, lol. But, there is no need for ballast, if you are a decent driver then you should be able to take on guys even with a weight handicap. Man, I really want to go, has anyone check how busy any of the places are over the holiday day weekend?

so how many 4 lb ankle weights will it take to equalize the field when the biggest is 240 lbs and the smallest under 160lbs.? lol

sure fast drivers can overcome wieght and be faster than un trained drivers. But close to equal drivers is another thing. as a Karter, you know wieght matters.

Yea, I know. I was just sharing an experience with the weights. I read a statistic the if a karter were to gain or lose 5 lbs. it would be the same as a NASCAR driver gaining or losing 20 lbs.

Anyway, lets start a vote for the venue so we can decide. I vote for Dromo or K1 in Irvine.
