Getting an original M2 1028 could be a near impossible task. So I decided to create something similar, using my 1994 black C package.
I had some time recently to take some pictures of the car with some of the original M2 parts
that I have gathered installed. Mainly 1028 parts, but M2 parts all the same.

what a beauuuuuuuuuty man! lemme be the first one to show appreciation of your work here since i'm a big M2 fan myself! :)

how did u achieve the plain door panel?

edit: looks like someone beat me to it. lol
I just recovered a set leaving only an opening for the 1028 door pulls. Nakamae makes a really nice set of retro panels, but too pricey for me at the current exchange rate.

Out of everything on that wonderful car, I love the trunk the most. IMHO I think its one of the best looking features on the 1028. The interior looks great as well.
I agree. I originally had a Murkami FRP 1028 lid, but jumped on an original aluminum 1028 one when I had the chance.

Thank you for all of the positive responses. I really appreciate them.
I am trying to stay 'true' to the 1028 model, with the parts that I am using, But I am also thinking along the lines of comfort as well as daily functionality.

Came yesterday, must have been shipped before the US shipping weight restriction.
Uhm, in my "look what came in the mail" geekiness I forgot to say what it was - a temp top for the M2 1028. Since it had no real soft top, this one goes on using the roll bar as the frame. It is complete and looks new, even has the directions - in Japanese. Found an image of it installed.

I have another set of wantanabes, more in line with the panasports. I wanted to see what it looked like with the RS8's on. Yes, I have too many sets of wheels. I would love the 1028 roll bar, but shipping is high, especially now, plus stressing over how it's condition upon arrive. Yes typesticky, I know you have the M2 winders, and they go great with that sick interior of yours.

I love this car , but please swap to Panasports even if the aren't M2 branded this car is just screaming for them , there is a set here in the UK for £250 dunno what the exchange rate is these days though , and an M2 roll bar recently sold here for £250 i'd have been all over it if it worked with my seats

I have the M2 winders (1001?) a guy on Yahoo Japan wants £600 for a new set

I have drooled on this thread every time it popped back to the top. Such an understated, refined, and utterly gorgeous car.
revlimiter, you have had some input here that will be posted once I get a chance to get things more organized and done. Your roadster updates and use of old school keep giving me ideas. Although I am starting to hate you since I read about your Elise Probaxes, which has caused me a loss of sleep since I am tossing around the idea of getting a set too. Dam you and your sharka!

Bump for a chance at awesomeness:

M2-1028 rollcage!

Thanks, I checked it out. It is missing a few parts to it though.
I have considered on and off about picking up a 1028 Roll Bar in the past, but there are a few problems with using it:
The sides of the roll bar bolts to the hard top side latch locations. In order for me to use one, I would 'lose' my hard top - unless I purchased an original 1028 light weight hard top, which are pretty rare.
Plus getting the top to the States in one piece, as well as the shipping charges for it kind of puts a damper on the idea.

I am trying to decide which roll bar to go with, I would like something similar to the M2 1001 type. I like the black Hard Bar Sport with no diagonals, it looks similar to the 1001 and I can still use my soft/hard top. I own original M2 1028 roll bar padding, so the bar will still have that 1028 styling added to it. I am also open to roll bar suggestions.

Another roll bar: http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/148611341

I found an M2 1001 Roll Bar a couple weeks ago. Shipping alone was going to be $1k. The 1028 will be quite a bit more due to the bars that go forward to the windshield frame.
Actually the two bars that go to the windshield header attach to the two front top latch points and are removeable for hard top installation.
Even though the whole roll bar is aluminum shipping is high, due to the bulkiness.
I did spot that 1028 RB the other day, but it is not complete, missing the two side braces that run lateral to the seats sides and bolted to the floor pan. Not being anal, but if I were to import one, it had better be complete.
I am leaning toward getting a HD hard bar with diagionals and having the two removeable windshield header braces custom made (thanks for the idea Mr. Woolery;)), but I would need to get a guesstimate first.

Picked this up recently. A Murakami 1028 shift knob. ONLY difference is that it weighs in @ 280 grams (9.8 oz) & is brass. OEM 1028 knobs were the M2 1001 knobs (light weight aluminum) wrapped in leather. This one is hefty, which I like, and places the OEM 1028 knob into my proverbial M2 box.

QUOTE=etikoner;984410]Hnnng. Loving this..
take more pictures please :)[/QUOTE]

basically we need more pics! Gorgeous car! beautifully executed!
Truly, Thank You for the compliments :D.
I would like to take some more pics, but I am going to wait until I have some more parts put on her. It has gotten to the point where I have to move around some of the larger boxes of parts just to get near my roadster, lol!
