Can someone give me the 101 on bitttorrent - I know it is a a P2P protocol, but what applications do you use? How does it work? How does one get started? Any recommendations?

I am familiar with P2P audio applications (WinMX, Kazaa, etc) as well as non P2P programs (newsgroups, etc).

Some good torrent sites are www.torrentspy.com and www.thepiratebay.org

If you're looking for something specific, you can google it, like "TOP GEAR TORRENT" and it'll bring up sites with top gear episodes. You can also search in the Bitlord application. Torrents are the way to go.

Bittorents are small documents/applications that allow you to download a program. I use uTorrent, but bitlord is fine. I mostly use it for programs that we don't get over hear in the States (ie Top Gear, Hot Version, etc). All you really have to do is open the bittorrent file with bitlord or utorrent and thats it. The program will determine how many seeds are available and start downloading.
