Really looking forward to checking out this city for some reason. Thanks in advance.

What are you into? shopping, outdoors, architecture? Just yourself (male) or are you bringing a significant other with you?

I'm in Victoria on the island and it is raining like crazy here which means it is likely to be even more wet in Vancouver.

My wife lived over there for several years so I can ask her for you. When we go over it is to shop for things we don't generally see her on the island like Ikea. I like to hit up some good Bike shops and MEC (Canadian version of REI).

If it is half decent out, a walk through Stanley park is nice. The art gallery is supposed to be nice , although I have never been.

Vancouver is pretty diverse in culture which means there are all types of great restaurants to pick from. Again what do you like?

If you have time, head up to Whistler. The drive up can be quite nice, and it is a great little village. I absolutely love it up there. Spend the day. Walk around the village, and people watch. It is a beautiful place.

Let us know what you are into, and we'll try to make a suggestion or two.

Have a great day there regardless.

Wife found this. Top 5 things to do in Vancouver in the Rain. Granville Island would be great, lots to do there. Then go to Stanley Park for a walk and to the Aquarium if you fancy to see some fish. If you have more time, head up to Whistler and spend a day/night there. If you have even more time, take a ferry ride over to Victoria and spend a day or two. You can take the Blackball ferry back to Washington state from downtown Vic to Washington Stae and drive back to Seattle.

Restaurants are everywhere in Van. You should have a problem hitting something good. Lots to choose from. Good luck and have fun!

Granville Island has a nice market and lots of art / craft shops, it's a nice place to walk around.
Queen Elizabeth park has a conservatory with exotic birds and plants, but wrong time of year for the outdoor gardens.
Downtown - walk Robson street down to Stanley park

rain is supposed to stop early afternoon

Head over Lion's Gate bridge to North Vancouver to Capilano canyon suspension bridge and Cleveland dam. Drive up Cypress mountain is you want to see snow but probably too cloudy to see to city from the lookout stops.

Thanks for the help guys. We actually just went to Granville Island market and then out to some park. Sounds lame but it was pretty fun. You guys don't know how well you have it in the northeast. Really beautiful out there.
