was wondering if the stock rear brace would also act as a SAFE harness bar. ive seen aftermarket braces made by RS Active a few other japanese aftermarket parts maunfaturers make similar braces that can also be used as a harness bar. can anyone enlighen me?

Safe as in pulling a superman straight through the windsheild?

I got told "HELL NO" by a few people when I did that for a while. Apparently they're known to pretzel under load under... ahem extreme deceleration.

i'd guess no as that's not what their engineered for. their purpose is right-left and not front-back. but i'm no engineer.. so.. i'd go with Caldera.

It has been long recommended in the Miata community NOT to use that bar as a harness bar. I've seen pictures of people who've done it, but the consensus is not to. Plus you should not be running 4/5/6/7-point racing harnesses on your car without a proper roll bar anyways which should have its own harness bar or harness tabs for attaching the belts.
