I just ran across this, I haven't seen it posted but it's a good answer for a few of the arguments to cat or not I've seen on here lately.

It's a scanned article from Oct 06 that ran in "Import Tuner" magazine, they test the factory cat, magnaflows ceramic and metallic and then finally a test pipe ... results are pretty interesting ... oh, they test on a Civic Si with header, intake and a performance exhaust ... no boost!

I can't justify the cost of a high flow cat due to its short lifespan compared to an oem style cat.

I can however, justify $25 for a test pipe and $100 for a new oem cat to swap in when needed.

I'm with BV on this one, except for the "100 for a new OEM cat" part being that I passed Washington state emissions testing w/o a cat entirely, and it's not as if i just squeaked by.

So yeah. HP numbers aside, i'm just cheap, and legal or not, my car blows clean so a cat's at the bottom of my list.
