hey...

i'm passing along info on an up-coming track event @ the streets of willow, open to everyone. it's the danny mckeever "fast lane" high performance driving school sponsored by raven wing performance.

this driving event is for both novices to the track and experienced drivers. unlike many driving schools, where you spend most of the day in a classroom, danny's school spends most of the day on the track (about an hour in the classroom). danny's instructors are all professional drivers, too. so this isn't a "school" with "instructors" who just happen to be more experienced track drivers... these guys drive for a living, including stunt driving.

you can find out more details and register for the event online: ravenwingperformance.net

cost is $265 for one day and includes lunch
two days available: saturday sept 30 or sunday oct 1

I think I'll give it a try, it would give me a chance to work on my suspension for better handling (it's adjusted for drag racing right now) and I'v never driven the "streets" track at Willow!

$265 is highway robbery for 1 day at SOW. The instructors had better be able to give you the code for extra lifes for that kind of money.

up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, B, A, select, select, start....

now you don't have to pay. :D

well i know it's less than a week away, but i'm gonna say $265 is NOT "highway robbery"... i've been to $100 track days and the "instructors" there are that in name only. most are just hot-shoe drivers who know how to handle a car but have no idea how to teach someone less experienced. a couple of them have been downright rude.

this school is an actual school with professional driving instructors. the difference in quality is significant. since i've experienced both, i know what i am talking about.

if you're an experienced track driver, then yah -- you may not see as much value in a school like this. the school setting is probably best for beginners or intermediate drivers, since there's more of a "safety net" and no arrogant attitude. despite the level of experience i have, i still find it worth the money to learn from more qualified drivers. i always believe that there is room to improve, even if i am part of the "advanced" group.

just remember, before you dis the price you should recognize that the exact same school costs $400 for others. but danny mckeever and his instructors like the miata crowd since we're polite, clean, and love to have fun. they can't stand the corvette and honda crowds since those groups are totally full of themselves. so we get a discount, the others don't.

On a side note, I'll be on the big track the same weekend. For 50 bucks I'll teach you how to not wad your car up or how to wad it up and look good doing it... lol, jk. If anyone is going to be up there keep an eye out for my white #12 RX 7 and make sure to say hi.
