Back in September of 2013, I bought a car to kick off my junior year of highschool. I remember scouring craigslist for a rear wheel drive car I could buy under three grand, and I impulse-bought my first Miata for $2500. After a couple years passed, the car was in a drivable, presentable condition. I had to sell it before going off to college, and I've missed the car since. After buying a shitty moped, a not shitty moped, and a shitty (really fucking shitty) Rav4 that exploded on me, it was about time for another car. I shopped for Civics, but every reasonably price coupe or hatch I looked at was a total pile (LOL ARENT ALL CIVICS AMIRITE.) After some decision making, I found a very good Midwestern Miata for a decent price. So as of August 10, 2017, I am the owner of this foreskin:

How the car came:
-1996
-Crank windows (dat arm workout)
-127,900 miles
-Yonaka Coilovers
-Ugly wheels/Dunlop Direzzas
-Very little underbody rust, but a few patches of surface/repairable rust in strange spots
-Very very very terrible headlights
-Missing cooling undertray
-Head was rebuilt a few oil changes ago
-Interior is decent, driver's seat is very worn

(I apologize for a lack of pictures in advance)

Being back in a Miata was great, it felt right. It was like I got all of my foreskin back.

And then my **** broke down, about 24 hours into the initial purchase.

The car was cranking slowly, and then the battery just flatlined. Wouldn't turn on the dash lights even. So before spending $150 on a replacement battery, I figured I should confirm it was dead by testing it at a couple places. Much to my surprise, both Autozone and NAPA testers said it was a-okay. So I start tracing wires, realizing the ground is complete ****.

A few trips to NAPA later, and I had rebuilt that little ground wire. The car still didn't want to do anything. So I checked the hot side of the battery, which initially looked okay.

It was not okay. It was very bad.

There was enough corrosion on the little stupid terminal to not let any current through, and after a good deal of wire brushing and re-installation, the car started right up. Insane how the smallest things can cripple a car.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the kind words guys.

0/10 no foreskin. I am disappoint.

Nice car though.
I didn't ASK to be circumcised.

Lets start a shared build thread. We can call it A Tale of Two Foreskins
I'd touch tips.

Car needs a front plate in WI, and I don't want to risk it after being pulled for it once before, so I made a small GarageStar order. I really liked the effect of door bushings on my last car, so I got those too.

No pictars of the door bushings because no one cares, however I need to sand the driver's side, the door doesn't close correctly. Passenger's side is glorious.

Welcome back to another installment of the Great Big Peen Machine.

My passenger side mirror broke off while adjusting it, so I bought new mirrors. Initially looked for a used OEM unit, but really couldnt find any for a reasonable price. So I took the opportunity to look at the aftermarket. I decided on Vitaloni Baby Turbos, except not really. I got reps because they'd get here a month earlier than the real jawns, but for $60 less.

They look like bendy straws, which is fucking sick. So much better than regular straws.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the passenger side mirror base off, the screws are seized. Broke two gotdamn screwdrivers trying to get it off, so I am saving that for another day. The driver's side went on with a couple speedbumps, but ended up looking pretty.

That continental looks gorgeous. For the mirror base, use a high-power soldering iron or a small torch (soldering iron is more precise) to head the **** out of the screws and hopefully break them loose.
Preesh, it was recommended to me by a friend and I bought it the same night.

Squiblez got one of the screws out with his impact gun, and broke the head off of the other, so I am still sans mirror.

Have made 0 improvements to this car since last time.

Tried to get the radio to work. Found broken stuff.

Did a quick re-wire/splicing of that connector, the stock radio still didn't work, and the Continental stereo STILL hasn't shipped out. Also ordered a shifter rebuild kit for obvious reasons.

I also ordered FM frame rails so I can lower the car more and scrape on **** without further fucking up the stock frame rails (which are pretty ugly already.)

Also lowballed some dude on some wheels, so now I have some wheels coming in next week. They won't be mounted til next year, though. Any recommendations for some 185/60r14 tires that aren't Star Specs?
