I have deduced that this referrs to the Pit Crew Racing nose but where did this come from? It does look a bit like a potato but was there someone in particular that started the tater thing? Just wondering.

Actually, "tater" is an alternative pronunciation of the word "Miata"...it's a derivation of a southern slang pronunciation of the word. Miata....Miater...'ter...Tater

I think... :?: :?

The term - Blue Potato originated way back to 1985 and has nothing to do with the Miata or the Pitcrew nose when that name came up in my life back then - it was a name that stood for several things including "against the norm" and "taking risks" and it applied nicely to my Laguna project from day 1.

Tater (IMO) is just another term given and I am not sure where it came from - but fits nicely in the slang term.

I see, How funny because i think every time i have heard it, the car in question had a pitcrew nose, hence my assumption. You learn something new everyday! Thanks.
That's really funny actualy - It is amazing how things like this works out...the funnier story is the true story behind the Blue Potato name what what happened long ago - maybe I post the story sometime for sheets&giggles
