So I have had my miata for a bit less than a year. About 3-4 months of that it wouldnt run. I dont know if the P.O. had ever changed the tranny fluid, I have heard of automatics slipping if they havent been changed in forever. Is it the same with manuals? Any info will be appreciated.

A manual transmission typically will only 'slip' if the clutch is waxed. What symptoms if any are you having?

Not having any symptoms really, just a bit of a grind into 2nd and 3rd if I make a quick shift. I also drive the car about 300 miles a week so Im just trying to keep up with maintenance. The car also has 102,xxx miles on it

I say its worth a shot to try, new fluids arent really a bad thing anyways. I did a fluid change and my 5th gear grind went away along with slightly smoother shifting, but that might just be in my head :D

Yeah I was thinking of doing it anyway. I've just heard too many bad things about people doing the change on automatics and then they start slipping like crazy.
