Re: Tree's Roadster

Stop it Tree. Tree stahp. Staaaaahhhhp. You're making me feel like I've been half-assing my miata so far. J/k, the progress looks great so far. Great attention to detail. I'll have to take a page from your book next time I do something to the interior and really tear it down to get a good scrub going. I'd love to get into the HVAC system and clean it up, you never really know whats caked up in there after 20+ years. Keep up the good work man. Definitely subbed to keep up with the progress.

Damn Tree, I head out of the country for work for a bit and come back to see you doing badass things. Having grown up around displacement I cant help but be jelly of the ls. Perhaps Ill build something ridiculous with one once Im done with the miata build. For now Ill simply have to live vicariously through you amigo. Keep up the awesome work.

Oh yeah, you were in Alberta or BC right? How was it?
Ablerta Calgary yeah. It wasn't bad, but I was there for work not fun. The first trip was for 3 weeks and I managed to get 1 day off, which I used to head out to Sunshine Village and ski for the day. Scenery was stunning. Last trip should be this Sunday for anywhere from one to three weeks depending on how things go on site. More money for the project!

I'd be excited just to get to play with that engine. Excited in my pants.:haiguyths:
What wiring harnesses do you guys have prepped for the engine dyno (meaning for which engines)? If I remember correctly you're essentially running the sensors to the computer running the dyno, no? Maybe I've got that all screwed up.

Technically you could media blast it at home... My old man did that back when he was building his Bronco. Stripped it down the to the frame and proceeded to media blast every panel and the frame itself in the garage. It made an unholy mess with all the media everywhere, but it worked.

No... Nonononononono... You can't persuade me into cleaning/removing that too! I'd never get the engine back in the car. I like the idea of removing the undercoating, but I'm looking at keeping mine a street car. Undercoating might be a good thing in that instance. Are you going to put a new coating on when its all said and done or just painting/sealing it?

Trans tunnel looks pristine and looks like a lot of work has been put into getting that coating off of the bottom. And let me get this straight; you're putting ford shims into a gm motor, which is going into a mazda chasis..? Blasphemy! I like it. Carry on.

Funny you mentioned forgetting how short the car is. I had the exact same thought the other day when I put mine on the ground for a little while to break the axle nuts loose. I looked down and was like 'huh... the top of the door doesn't even come up to my waist...' Perspective is warped a lot when its up on stands for so long. Excited for when yours comes back and the to see work thats going to be done on it!

Sorry to hear you got hit man. The down side to riding a bike is that more often than not its someone else's negligence that gets you injured/killed. Glad you made it out relatively unscathed.

That fuel cell is awesome. 50% larger than stock is nice. Also is it filled with open cell foam to prevent slosh, or is that just packaging?
