Re: Tree's Roadster

Too cool! Merry Christmas indeed! I like that you are doing your own door cards as well, so far they look very well done.

We really appreciate the shout out. I hope you're really happy with the bar and clutch line. And if you ever have questions about Moss parts or service, please PM or email me! That's what I'm here for, on this forum. Thanks again for the mention!
Re: Tree's Roadster

No problem, Chris!

I ordered a set of Flyin Miata frame rails earlier. Here's to building a better car for 2015. Happy New Years everyone!
Re: Tree's Roadster

Looks great man! Glad to see your dedication to keeping it clean. Really excited to see this develop!

Thanks a lot! 2015 should be a huge year for this car, I plan on bringing in a few nice surprises.

Re: Tree's Roadster

I spent the day today doing a lot of cleaning on the car. All cell phone pictures today. I started off by reinstalling the parcel shelf covers that I painted in the fall.

Then I removed the OEM mirrors and cleaned the area.

Next up was removing the universal mounts that are included with the APR mirrors and replacing them with the Slick Auto mounts.

I installed the mirrors on the car for a few pictures before I removed them and put them back in the box where they're safe. They're beautiful. <3

Once the mirrors were put away I started to clean the doors up to make progress towards my door cards.
Remember how I said the previous owner was a hack and used duct tape everywhere? He duct taped the wires to the speakers....:suicide:

Once the speakers were out I started removing the vapour barrier and the messy tar that it's held on with.
I pulled as much off as possible by hand which left me with this.

Most people would probably leave it at that since most of it was removed. My OCD of car cleanliness kicked in and I took it a step further.
This is what I started with.

These are the doors now.

Not a spec of tar is left. There's a little bit of duct tape residue left over, I'll be removing that next time I spend time on the car, but I've had enough for today.

Re: Tree's Roadster

When my Camaro is sold my Miata is going into my garage and will be gone over for a cleaning and fix/update as needed. I love reading your thread because you're so thorough. Look at how clean that door is!!!! Great job.
Re: Tree's Roadster

If you remove that plastic barrier and tar, will moisture get in the car?

Do you have a build thread, Chris? I've looked in the past but didn't have success. I've never seen your car outside of your sig. Thanks for the compliments, they're always appreciated. The best part about cleaning is it's essentially free, so I clean a lot while waiting for parts.

If you remove that plastic barrier and tar, will moisture get in the car?
Without them there is that chance. I'm going to cover the backside of the new door cards with a vapour barrier rather than attaching them to the door itself. I'm not sure how well it'll work, but the car will never see rain again, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Are you ever going to wash it again?

I'll be washing it. That's why I'm putting the vapour barrier backing on the door cards.
Re: Tree's Roadster

The face I made when seeing the speaker wires taped actually made my coworker stop and ask me what was wrong. That's hilariously bad.
Re: Tree's Roadster

Hey, The speakers worked right?
Tree's Roadster

Duct tape is great, but I don't understand this mans obsession with "fixing" things with it.
Hey, The speakers worked right?
I have no idea. I couldn't get the stupid radio to work.
Re: Tree's Roadster

I actually don't have a build thread, but thanks for being interested!

I bought the car built. And it was built well. However, now that I've had it so long, it's time for me to do my own build. I forsee some serious downtime when that happens, and I need to sell the Camaro first so I have garage space. I got a used M45 from the R&D dept here at Moss but I'd like to clean up the engine before I put it on. It's got 196K+ miles on it now and it leaks/burns a little bit of oil. The entire car is just fairly dirty from neglect and it needs a new paint job - which won't be done like how the prev owner did it, a $400 Maaco job. It was going to be a race car so I know why he cheaped out on paint, but it's peeling quite a bit now, almost 9 years later. I'd like to strip the paint and start over. I might be a masochist for wanting to do that. But it goes with my "get it clean" build idea.

@treeafodo

Can we both run "$ at a time" on our cars.

Let's do it. #fullhomo

@treeafodo

Bad ass!!!

I'll get some made up and send them over to you!

Color preference?
Re: Tree's Roadster

I'm not 100% sure if you're serious or not, but I'd prefer black. I'm not one to run stickers on my cars so I'll use it inside the trunk lid if you are serious.
Re: Tree's Roadster

Of course I'm serious! :)

Okay! I'll design one up tonight, and get it made.
No. The truck is not acceptable.

On the quarter window ;)
