I got a hold of a JDM 96+ radio surround w/ the true 2-DIN opening. It's a direct swap for the USDM 90-93 NA6. Here is a side by side:

USDM console on the left, JDM 96+ console on the right. You can tell the true DIN one has a lip in the opening. Also- one quick way to tell is that the JDM radio opening is same width as the climate controls opening. Whereas the USDM console has the radio opening slightly narrower.

Anyways, just putting the info out here in case somebody cares... ;)

There are two different radio surrounds for 1996 Roadsters, depending on the radio option:

N041-55-210A: Normal, S-Special, R2-Ltd, VR-Ltd, SR-Ltd, B2-Ltd
NA01-55-210B: Normal-Opt, S-Special Opt, V-Sp.

Which radio is which:

No. 1: Norm-Opt, S-Special Opt, V-Sp
No. 2: Norm, S-Special-Opt, no headrest speakers
No. 3: B2-Limited
No. 4: SR_limited

Maybe these approximate radios offered in the US. The UK got none of these.

The N041-55-210A is the right one. The reason I can say that is because if you look at the radio number 4- it goes with the cubby hole which has the bottom 'lip'. This is a true 1DIN cubby hole. Hence it's the right one!
