Hi all,

I have a buddy who is in Japan for 10 days. He said he wants to check out some cool roadster stuff while he is there. Any good suggestions for Miata specific shops or cool JDM shyt?

Also, he wants to pack a large box full of parts that are harder to get in the US. Any suggestions here?

I gave him a few ideas, but I am sure some of you will know much, MUCH, more regarding the subject.

I didnt come across much roadster stuff when I was in Japan :S I also didnt go to many tuners either.. People seem to forget sometimes that Japan has so much more to offer than just 'car stuff'.. Dont get me wrong I went several times JUST for Ebisu but there's so much going on! ! !

He needs to check out Super Autobacs and UP Garage!

UPGarage was not worth it when I went (well, I guess it depends on which shop, mine didn't have anything cool).

Car Make Corn's shop is awesome.

Super Autobacs is real great.

Roppongi if he likes to party / Shinjuku if he prefers more "underground" kind of bars.

Dude.. there's more UP Garages in Japan than there are hairs on PhillyB's head Because they are a franchise each one differs greatly however if you are really after something, and UP in Okinawa has it.. they will send it to your closest shop for you.

Iv come across so many mega bargains there, ARC Intake box + filter for a 180sx for £45. Nardi wheels for £15, All their Turbo's look brand new.. loads of lights, ARB's, aero, wheels.. you name it they got it, and unless you live somewhere where this is common site within shops (Not here in the UK) then I would advise everyone who goes to Japan to check some out. Iv been to maybe.. 15 UP Garages or so.. some have brilliant stuff, some times its hit or miss.. sometimes you come across a GOLD MINE of parts!!

Worthy of a look imo. Same goes for Cystal aswell but I far preferred the range within most UP's.

Shinjuku was decent too Drinking til 6am, then getting Ramen for breakfast I can put your friend in touch with plenty girls who were happy to tour me around over the years hahah.

The 2 Autobacs I enjoyed the most was the Super Autobacs in Shinonome (Tokyo Bay) and the Super Autobacs in Yokohama. Both very easy to get to, both worth a look. Usually the car parks alone provide countless photo opportunities.. both when you enter, then leave.

Head over to Daikoku Futo if possible. You can taxi it over there or take a rental car. I rented a Honda Fit and drove over Was a great experience. I also rented a Mazda 323 automatic thing that was good banter haha.

Ebisu is several hours north of Tokyo, If he is going there he should make contact with Andy/Emily @ Powervehicles for a welcome Andy's originally from a place just a couple hours south of where I live, he picked me up from the station with his JZX100 on the back of a truck.. then he took me to go meet Team Orange and K-Style garage Then he took me out on the touges and then out in the 100 round Ebisu.. then I was out in Various AE86's round Ebisu too.. and finally some s-bodies Was amazing fun. Best holiday of my life.

On a non-car related note, Matsumoto was my favorite city. Not at all big, but just pleasant. Matsumoto castle is cool because it isn't a museum like Osaka castle, but Osaka castle is still cool.
