the 323 gtx. uses the same 1.6 as out early NAs.
the mercury capri xrti uses the same engine as well, but i don't remember if its turbo'd or not.

It's not hard if you have the correct tools and you know how to use them. I did my own with a ban saw (with metal cutting blade) and cleaned up the underside just to get rid of the ugly casting posts.

It turned out like this:

to expose my cam gears i used one off of a 1.8L protege (for my 1.8) and it works beautifully. even says mazda on it. you can also use a valve cover off the escort gt(see bluepotatoes car)

I think the only good way to handle the exposed vs covered is having 2 valve covers. One for on the dyno so you can adjust your adjustable cam gears... and the normal covered one for everyday usage to prevent anything from getting in there and grenading your timing belt.

Yah... non-interferance so less damage to cause... but who wants to do a timing belt when they don't have too?
