Vintage race car number circles?

Can i see some miatas with "racing circles" or "number circles"? I'm not sure what they're called officially. They're mostly found on old race cars.

like this

Anyways.. I kinda wanna put one on mine too. without the numbers though. just the circle. But i've got a white miata so obviously a white circle would do no good. Would a red circle be too crazy? it would look like a japanese flag. lol!

do you have an accent color to your car? a color you pick to use as a theme for it? like in the interior or engine bay or something?

if so i'd try that color, but what ever it is it needs to be a bold color. red might work
hehe.. my accent color is um.. camouflage.
They're called meatballs. And they're almost always white. On white cars they usually have a black outline.
they are called meat balls or roundells. Here is mine.

Roundels
I also think red ones on a white car would be bad ass. Honda used to do that with their formula cars.

i'm really digging that position. either that or move it forward more. hmm.. decisions.

That's Japan's racing scheme, and a Japanese military scheme before that. It's more of a rising sun emblem than a meatball.

<3 meatballs
i am in the same situation.. my cars' theme is blue, but i really don't want to put huge blue roundels on the side of my car. i dunno.. :( don't want to do red though. red/white/blue is too patriotic.
red/white/blue is the ONE thing that kept me from putting a red interior in my car. Far too patriotic...

Red meatballs with white numbers might be hot.
they are cheap as hell to do too. I say go for it. I paid 10 bucks for my magnetic ones.
Magnetic? How/where did you get them made?
your local SIGNS shop can make them.
Any sign shop should be able to make them for you. $10 sounds really cheep, thats a hell of a deal. I was debating on making a meatball for my car or my other idea i have been thinking about is making a magnetic that looks like the standard 6xx series number you get at an auto-X and printing it so it looks like its taped on with blue painters tape.
Vinyl I figured but I didn't know they could do magnets as well.
yep magnetic vinyl at your local sign shop.
I made a few - I think I settled on 15" ones:
