Initially, I intended to put a glasspack I have laying around in place of the muffler. I saw videos and it is really loud but I didnt really care. Now I read that people sometimes replace the cats and resonators with glasspacks, too. Does anyone here have any experience with glasspacks?? From what I read, putting a glasspack in place of the cat does make it sound really nice and deep, but I wonder how much the labor would cost me. And I'm not even 100% sure if '99 Miatas have resonatorss.

That sounds awesome. I'm gonna be putting mine on a completely stock exhaust system, though.

In place of the cat.
I have had two cars with the setup and love it. Turbo mufflers though ( kinda like glasspacks depending on model. )

I have a single turbo muffler on an na 1.8 it is really loud at wot, but nice and quite inside while cruising, and has a nice tone.
I made the whole setup for $100.
Video sucks and starts out loud (volume down first), but here it is.

I have a shore glass pack just before my muffler. Right now it sounds like a wet fart but the previous owner sucked at welding, so I need to drop and re weld to close all the pin holes.

Does your car stink really bad now 'cause of the cat delete? I heard that doing this with the stock muffler gives it a deep, throaty sound, too. Bu I have a resonator tip installed also, and this might muffle the sound all too much?

Think I might just end up doing this, if it's possible to re-weld my already installed resonator tip.

You should look up how mufflers work. A turbo muffler is in no way like a glass pack, but you can get oval mufflers that are straight through and glass packed, like magnaflows for example.

A glasspack muffler is seen by the motor as a longer section (compared to the actual lenght of the glasspack) of straight exhaust pipe.

Always choose preforated tube over louvered tube versions.
