Like title says. Would prefer cheap, used, and working.

Will substitute the last requirement for "really cheap" so i can use it as a core.

Sick of dealing with alternator output control on my Hydra, needing to convert to 94-97 alternator on my MSM.

Please give best price shipped to 46237. Thanks!

Don't know if it's the same... For that matter, i have one on the BP in the garage that works, but i don't know if it's the same, and i don't feel like figuring it out. Someone just PM'd me with one anyways, so i should be good. :)

They're different part numbers. Doesn't necessarily mean they aren't swappable, though. But that's as much research as i care to do on the subject.

I'd imagine the Mazda protege with the Bp and the miata alternator are the same.

Maybe, but it's different part numbers, and i don't feel like pulling one from the junkyard and taking a chance of it not working.

You need to read the application list closer. It's listing the same alternator on the Protege (the wrong generation Protege at that) for the 1.5 and the 1.8. They are not the same alternators. That site is garbage.

Rockauto AND Jim Ellis Mazda are showing different part numbers. ;)

Not seeing anything wrong. :dunno:

Sorry, i ninja-edited. They're showing the same alternator being used on the BP and the Z5 in the 2nd gen Protege. That's not correct.

Besides, this thread is a WTB for a 94-97 NA alternator. I've got another lined up for cheap enough that it doesn't even make sense to bother with the junkyard. I'm good, it's all taken care of, and this when this one does go bad, i can actually turn it in to the Mazda dealership as a core because it will be the right part number, and i can get another one for cheaper than that site showed anyways.

What makes the site garbage. I bet they do youse the same alternator. Why can't a 1.5l and 1.8l use the same alternator?

Maybe they CAN. That's not the point. I'm looking for a specific alternator so i have the option of using it as a core at the Mazda dealership that i can get a hookup from.

The Protege/Escort/Tracer/MX3/323 alternators do not share a Mazda part number with the NA alternator. This means i would have to pay a core charge at the dealership i can get a hookup from if i do have to get a new one.

Hackjob bullshit belongs on the MX6. I'm not messing around with the MSM. I know what works, and that's what i'm going to buy. :hello kitty:

I never said but one from that site. I posted because of the compatibility chart nut sack.

I know what you said... i'm saying the compatibility chart is not 100% correct.

The Mazda part numbers for every one of those applications is different. Every one.

Compatibility charts on sites like that is why i have a brand new master cylinder, and two brand new slave cylinders "for my cars" that i can't use. I don't trust them, and there's no reason to even **** around with that ****, because it's not like NA alternators are hard to find or expensive. It's just making things complicated and annoying for the sake of making things complicated and annoying.

"Oh i know this alternator works for SURE and it's CHEAP and i've already gotten two of them offered to me! But i think i'll try to find out what else i can use instead for the same price and time spent slogging around in a junkyard."

Rly? :lol::blaugh::fp:

Doesn't matter what you get, it will sit in the garage no matter what haha. You can't complete a single god damn project.

That's fine, i'm still buying what i want. :D

I'd give you 5:1 odds you couldn't have built an identical Escort to mine in less time than it'll end up taking me anyways. I still don't understand where this weird meme came from anyways... i've only started one project. It's not done yet, so......?
