Found it at a semi local salvage yard online while looking for parts for the bosses car.
I don't really care who made it. I am excited to have scored it. They are mailing it to me.
I made sure to specify that I need the surround also. Definitely is for a NA.

Its hard to tell, especially from just the one picture. Id say that maybe judging from the state of the rest of the car in the picture it looks like its still in good condition which would lead me to believe that it may be the genuine Zoom part? I feel like the OBX one may pit and rust easier? IDK, either way it looks like you scored a nice little part there.

Yes, it appears to be in great shape. No obvious pitting.
I can't wait to get it. I had to have one the first time I saw them.

I did not realize the Zoom was a different shape.
I am still waiting for it to arrive. It should really stand out on my black Miata.
I hope they are smart enough to include the hinge and surround.
Total cost including shipping and tax is well under $100.

Well the junkyard sent me photos of what they pulled.
Turns out the hinge was rusted on and they can't get it off.
So I will need to make a hinge. I doubt anyone sells parts for these.
They did refund some of my money so It will cost me $50 plus what I have in a hinge.
My thought is to get a stock fuel door and attempt to modify that hinge.

Anyone have one of these off that would be willing to measure the hinge for me?
As many measurements as possible.

I found that rev9 still sells the monza / cobra retro style lid.
So I sent them an email asking if they could get me a hinge. Now we wait and see.

Don't know the brand for sure but I know it is a very heavy lid. Definitely not aluminum.
From what I read, I think it is an early Brainstorm made from brass.

Still working on the hinge.

Brainstorm also made stainless steel ones. I have one and I love it.

There is a strange way to do so... submerge it in a container with water, and an accurate enough volumetric scale. See how much water it displaces. That is the volume of your part.

Now multiply that volume with the density of stainless steel and with the density of brass. That will return 2 weight values.

Lastly, weight your part. It will be whatever material the real weight came closest to.
