So right now im really poor and my cat is messed so i have to think of something cheap to do. I also must return a borrowed test pipe. Thanks for letting me borrow it Eddie. Im thinking for the time being i should just make a little turn down exhaust pipe right after the header..... no cat.... no exhaust. would i run into any problems such as my car catching fire or me dying from fumes getting into the car. i have drawn you a piece of art to show you what im thinking about. i know its going to be loud... but when a cop pulls me over and says my exhaust is to loud i can say "I dont even have an exhaust"

if your cat is messed up but its still usable use it....better than a loud car that attracts the cops. not just that ..but the fumes comes up from the middle of the car when ur straight piped but only on a stand still. and you lose power and gas mileage. better off with a messed up cat than none. unless you really cant put it on because of the damge.

Fumes shouldn't be too big a deal when you're not in a closed area I would think. But that bish is gonna be LOOOOUD and I'm sure "I don't have an exhaust" is not gonna fly at all with the coppers.

How much do you have to spend? I believe I spent $180 on my mexican shop "exhaust" with crush bends, 2.5" piping, magnaflow muffler, magnaflow cat...quite affordable.

i have a total of $20 bucks to spend until i sell my exhaust. my cat was originally welded to my stock so when i put on the rsr i had a flange put on it to fit the rsr. with my current exhaust it doesnt fit.

okay well i took my car out on a test drive with just an open header....... i am now deaf. i feel bad for my neighbors now. i didnt even get it past 2k rpm and i thought my car was going to explode from noise. It does sound pretty bad ass though. lol

I have the same problem with the '92 I have, except it dumps right before the driver's rear tire  The drone is way too much for it to be somewhat bearable and I have no bottom end performance what so ever, it does rev rather quickly though, lol. This will be remedied this weekend and next though

you can take out the cat ,and use a metal pry bar or similar ,and poke out all the internal crap in the cat .
hollow it out. although there was a mag article that reported a loss in power with a hollowed cat .
I did it, I lost power.

When I was hollowing out my cat I started my car up open header and holy **** it might have been the loudest thing I have ever heard. And weird sounding lol.

Running open header sucks bad. It's soooo freakin loud. I've driven a few times with just an open header for various reasons and it's embarrassing how loud it is. If you think it's loud at 2k RPMs, next time you take it for a drive run it up to the redline. haha...

I ran open downpipe for a few weeks once when I was turbo. It was a straight 3" off the turbo and dumped right below the firewall. That was loud too but the sound was so badass.

Anyways, get some sort of exhaust put on there.

if you're wanting a cheap solution, stick a magnaflow on the end of your header, then a downturn. still probably loud as bajesus, but not ear-bleeding.

edit: or wait wtf you already have an exhaust, just buy a $20 ebay test pipe

well i have solved the problem for a little bit. i just bolted up my crooked cat to the mid pipe and left a little exhaust leak. its not as loud but still loud.......rsr loud i would say. i had to leave the exhaust leak cause if i bolted it tight on both sides it would be hitting my diff. lets hope this goes okay.
