Post your stripped (race prepped or street daily, doesnt matter) interior miata. Just want to get some good ideas. Since ive took out the passenger seat,soft top, carpet foam padding, stock exhaust shield, spare tire, washer fluid, stock seat belts and engine under tray on mine. also, post recorded wieght improvement from removal of certain items and changes in car performane and or behavior.

As far as any changes in car performance and behavior from stripping out the interior are concerned, I reckon that the only things that weigh enough to make much of a difference are the soft top, stock seats, whole AC+HVAC system, airbag system and radio. Can't see the rest being worth much unless you're going to be totally gutting your doors and stuff.
Even if you strip/swap all that stuff out you'll add back about 50lbs if and when you install a rollbar though, which would pretty much bring you back up to even.
Still, it's worth a thread. Stripped interiors are purdy.

Still debating on taking off the radio and speakers, since i bought the delete panel for it. just worried of rattles annoying the crap out of me.
The stock radio weighs 5 pounds and stock speakers are super light. Probably not worth it unless you are trying to track the car competitively.
If at all possible I think it would be really helpful for people putting their cars on a diet to list the items removed and how much they weigh. Additionally the weight put back into the car from things like roll bars.

Not stripped, but gone are the softop, passenger seat and the hardtop is currently off as well.
I know it's not really going to make the car faster, but it does liven it up.
It does feel more spirited and eager and subsequently makes me want to drive the car a lot harder.

I'll get some pics of mine up soon.....essentially a 10 AE with almost every "luxury item" gone (heatercore & underdash AC stuff , OEM bose stereo, PS/CC/AC in engine bay, all carpeting/sound deadening removed, etc)

This is the best I can do with my iphone, I hope this helps. I'm almost thinking about putting some of that thermal **** in my car to keep me a little cooler. My turbo doesn't help either especially around the transmission tunnel. Don't burn your legs, hahaha.
My Miata is the only car that I own with a radio. When the wagon did have a radio, I never listened to it. I have removed all the sound deadening, minus what is on the firewall, and all the jute under the carpet. I put the carpet back in, since it weighs nothing. I have debated removing my radio and speakers. You have to have the damn thing at full blast on the highway to even hear it. The sound quality is ****, since the motor and exhaust noise is so loud from the inside.
I drive my car on the weekends. I concentrate on driving when in in the miata, so no radio needed. I like to listen to my engine. Its very noisy without the interior.
wow I thought eleven's was a little too extreme for a daily but Jerry's looks about perfect (with the exception of lacking a pass. seat & doorpanels :lol: )
a compromise between the 2 may be perfect for my tastes with the 10AE:
-flat doorpanels
-full NA dash & center console
-matching buckets

I have been debating about taking some things out of my miata as well. Since it's not my daily driver anyhow. I am thinking about taking the softtop out completely. I have a hard top. Theres a shelf on the rear deck that i can remove?

Do it! Take out the radio and call up Rennenmetal.com for a block off plate. I did it and I do not regret it.
^^^ sonny are you producing blocks for the sunvisor too? I got the block off plate from a different source unfortunately. but would like to get the visor delete from you if your making em.

Getting some minor interior seam welding done once I sell my NA.
plan is basic:
-door/windshield areas on both sides
-front passenger side seat mount along the floor/trans tunnel/door sill
-not doing the driver side because I plan to remove all the OEM seat bracketry and bolt a kirkey to the floor
sound like a good deal for 150 with the welds grounded down smooth & satin black paint over the bare metal once it's all done?
I was told that doing just that makes a bigger difference than FM frame rails
(which are still on my wish list)
Also getting the early NA dash & center console in the next week or two from alex.
