I installed an enthuza light weight exhaust I picked up second hand recently on my 2002. It is only the muffler section, stock midpipe. Installation took literally 15 minutes, and I didn't even have to jack the car up. Fit was perfect. The sound though, wow. I love it. The car grumbles quite nicely now. It is not too loud or obnoxious, it just sounds good. I'm waiting on a midpipe and will report back after that goes on.

The Enthuza XR is an awesome piece for sure. It is just a magnalow straight through muffler and then Enthuza adds the appropriate piping/bends and tip. It sounds much better than I was expecting though. Loud and Quiet are relative terms obviously...I'm used to v-8s with no cats, and my mazdaspeed3 is pretty obnoxious too. To me the Enthuza axleback is middle ground noise level. I could drive the car for an all day roadtrip and the exhaust (as of right now with stock midpipe) would not bother me...but I would definitely hear it the whole time...I like hearing my car though.

As far as the racing beat header, I was under the impression that the header was pretty much not worth the money for the VVT cars, since we already have a nicer tubular header than the 00 and below cars.

Curious...how much noise reduction is attributed to the muffler and how much is attributed to the 2x 90* bends?

I'm looking for a muffler to make my car quiet, but it's left exit and basically straight from the header back. It has a resonator (magnaflow from Enthuzacar) in the midpipe and currently a Vibrant titanium muffler (basically a hollow cannon style). Thinking of going with a baffled muffler, but they're quite a bit heavier.

Thinking of getting a vibrant alluminum muffler.

Im in the process of installing the enthuza midpipe now. I've worked on many cars over the years. I must say, there is one nut on the cat to header connection that is horrible to access. Space is tight. Next time I'm removing the wheel and the 02 sensor...its worth those 10 minutes to not have to jack with that nut so much. Thankfully though, I got all 3 nuts off.

:woolery:

I assume that the NB is a little different, but I always hated messing with that part of the exhaust on my NA. When I had Artech make my custom exhaust I had him use v-band clamps for every joint. No more flange bolts and nuts to futz with!

LOL I see what you did there :p

Anyway, yah those 3 nuts were ridiculous at first. there is a bracket that is bolted to the bellhousing, and a clamp that is on the exhaust. The exhaust clamp bolts to said bracket to keep it moving. I found that the bolt was sheared off...so I removed the clamp and bracket. This gave me a lot of space and has greatly reduced the time to mess with the exhaust...now the pipe after the header can be installed or taken off in about 5 minutes. Enthuza exhaust is installed...vids will follow soon after I get the shifter back in operation.

I chucked that bracket too when I put an '01+ tubular manifold on my '00 SE. What a worthless POS. Since then, I had a dead cat from a faulty coil, and upgraded to a FM mid pipe and cat. Now I'm waiting for my Enthuza XR to ship and I'll replace the RB dual muffler on there now.

I can't wait to lose another 15lbs off the back end of the car.
